Helping young performers find their confidence.

The Future Performer is a creative performing arts programme for young people aged 6 to 16, founded and led by Kim Thursfield.

Performer, coach, agent, author.

Kim is an experienced performer, vocal coach, talent agent and performing arts professional with more than eighteen years of industry experience, working across teaching, producing and directing.

She founded KTTA, a boutique talent agency for young performers, and teaches singing to around eighty students a week. She wrote The Future Performer, a handbook for parents, because the same questions kept arriving from families who had been given bad advice by people with something to sell.

The classes came next, for a related reason. There was no shortage of places telling children they were wonderful, and a real shortage of places helping them actually get better while enjoying it.

What we are actually for

More than musical theatre.

We believe performing arts can give children far more than performance skills. Our aim is to create a space where young people can:

  • Build confidence and self esteem
  • Find their voice and express themselves
  • Develop singing, acting and dancing skills
  • Learn how to work as part of a team
  • Become more confident taking direction
  • Develop creativity and imagination
  • Make friends and have fun
  • Feel proud of what they can achieve

How we run things

Four promises, and we mean all four.

Classes and the agency stay separate

Coming to a class here has no bearing on whether KTTA would represent your child. This is not a pipeline into the agency, and anyone implying otherwise is selling you hope.

Not about turning every child professional

Kim's industry experience shapes everything we do, but the aim is a more confident young person, not a career. Most of our performers will never audition for anything, and that is a complete success.

Honest feedback, kindly given

Young performers are told what worked and what to try next. Never in a way that knocks them, and never so vaguely that it is useless.

No pressure to spend more

No uniform, no compulsory extras, no photo packages. The termly West End workshops are included rather than sold on top, because everyone should get to do them.

Which one do you actually need?

They are separate on purpose. Here is the honest guide to which door to knock on.

  1. Your child loves performing and wants to get better

    That is this site. Weekly classes from January, and bootcamps in the October and summer holidays. No audition to join.

  2. Your child wants to work professionally

    That is the agency. KTTA takes on a small number of young performers and the application process is on their site. Read the book first.

  3. Your child needs one to one singing tuition

    That is Kim's coaching practice at kimthursfield.co.uk.

Questions before you commit to anything?

Ask them. Kim reads and answers her own email, and she will tell you honestly if this is not the right fit for your child.
